Graciela Gonzalez_Inaugural Canadian tour

Our distinguished guest, Graciela Gonzalez started dancing in 1988. Among her teachers she was fortunate to have such legends of Argentine Tango as Pupi Castello (the teacher who influenced her the most and with whom she was dancing and teaching for 19 years, forming a world renowned partnership), Pepito Avellaneda, Antonio Todaro, Gustavo Naveira, Juan Bruno, Teté Rusconi, Martha Anton and Manolo, El Turco José, Lampazo, Eduardo Pareja, Nito and Elba, among many others.
Graciela’s teaching method is a result of years dedicated to studies of body movement combined with her personal dancing experience. The objective of her method: to take the body from a simple sensation to the muscle memory and from that – to the natural body positions which, through understanding, with time will become improvisational tango technique. This method eventually enables students to create their own individual style of dancing.
She was an original creator of Followers’ Technique (1994) and Leaders’ Technique (1995) courses that are recognized and emulated all over the world. Through her research work and teaching Graciela became one of the most important representatives of a new tango generation.
